What we
do
On 1 October 2004 The National
Resource Centre for Consumer Participation in Health
closed. Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing
funding ended on 30 June 2004 and we were unsuccessful
in securing new sponsors. The Health Issues Centre will
maintain the website http://www.participateinhealth.org.au
in the short term while looking for continuing support.
Other services of the Resource Centre, including the
toll free advice line 1800 625 619, distribution of
print materials, electronic newsletter, eUpdate, and
the library also ceased.
Between 1999 and August
2004 the National Resource Centre for Consumer Participation
in Health performed the following functions -
- Clearinghouse
for information on consumer feedback and participation
methodologies. We distributed free
publications (in print and on
the website), maintained a library of resources and
provided an online
searchable catalogue
- Centre
of Excellence where people can seek advice and
assistance to develop, implement and evaluate consumer
participation methods and models. We analysed strategies
and approaches and operate a free advice service by
telephone
- Centre
for Research and Special Projects on consumer
participation topics including:

Participation Needs Assessment
(November 1999) We conducted
a "needs assessment"
to inform the establishment of the National
Resource Centre.

gain an indication of the level of commitment and
activities on community and consumer feedback and
participation at organisational and department/ward
