Victorian Consumers Participate in Health
Health
Issues Centre maintains this website with funding from the
Victorian Department of Human Services.
Effective
consumer participation does not just happen. Sometimes attitudes
and practices need to change in an organisation before consumers
feel listened to and real change can be achieved. Consumers
often feel intimidated or can wonder where to begin. Health
service providers may have heard the phrase 'consumer participation'
but are not sure what it really means.
This page
provides some basic information about consumer participation
in health, but its main focus is on Victorian resources -
key relevant policy documents, examples of participation in
practice, and research on consumer participation. The page
can be used on its own, or you can start here and then progress
to the Participate in Health site for a broader range of materials.
